Oldknow Academy

Oldknow Academy converted to an academy from Oldnow Junior School on 1 April 2012, achieving an OFSTED rating of ‘Outstanding’ at the end of its first year in January 2013. Understanding that the majority of the academy’s pupils were from ethnic backgrounds.

It was recognized early in the Academy’s existence, that there were inadequate facilities in which muslim pupils could perform their ritual ablution before prayer. Site Manger Gulfor Khan was tasked with assessing the situation, and identified several areas within the Academy, where facilities for wudu could be accommodated, and having the necessary access to plumbing and drainage.
